I have a rather simple and straightforward process that is transparent. I rely on good communication for efficiency and an outcome that exceeds your expectations.
I do the research and sourcing of all material goods including fabric, hardware, accessories, rugs and flooring, and I estimate all costs up front and only move forward upon approval. I work closely with trade professionals very well to manage quality control, on and off-site.
I get a trade discount at Design Centers nationally and a trade discount with most retailers, and I always try to get the best price so that I can pass it along to my clients.

"Colleen Van Houten is the best designer I can imagine. I was having a special birthday for my husband and his whole family was coming to our house from out of state. I consulted Colleen merely on colors of paint for the hallway. The colors she suggested have opened up our hallway and made it light and inviting! I immediately knew she was so savvy and had such a good eye that I asked her advice on a few other areas of the house. She had tremendous advice on hanging artwork, placement of furniture and getting rid of clutter. We added a mirror which opened the hall up, framed great photographs which added interest to each room and she even helped me move toys to the basement and got beautiful trays for our dinner guests to use for the buffet for 25 people. She suggested and bought for us better light bulbs and lighting. She reorganized my china cabinets to display the glassware in a much better way. The house was transformed and I received so many compliments on how lovely our house looked.
